The African Coalition
The Elephant Protection Initiative was launched in 2014 by the leaders of 5 states: Botswana, Chad, Ethiopia, Gabon, and Tanzania

Having successfully achieved its objectives, Stop Ivory formally closed in December 2020.

Democratic Republic of Congo

The Democratic Republic of Congo has Africa’s a large population of forest elephants, last estimated at 1,175 by the 2016 African Elephant Status Report by IUCN. DR Congo joined the EPI in 2024, making it the 25th member state.
