The EPI Foundation’s CEO, John E Scanlon AO, said, ‘Greta has been an integral part of the EPI over the past decade. Her vast experience in tackling illegal wildlife trade, global leadership in addressing human-elephant conflict and coexistence and her outstanding diplomatic skills have played a crucial part in the EPI’s success. We will miss her infectious enthusiasm and passion for people and elephants. Greta may be leaving the Foundation, but she is not leaving the herd, and Greta remains a dear and lifelong friend of the EPI .’
Sharon Ikeazor, the chair of the EPI Leadership Council, said ‘Greta has worked skilfully and tirelessly with African governments in the mitigation of human-elephant conflict across the continent. Throughout her tenure, her charisma and depth of knowledge in the conservation sector has served as a bridge between the international community and the locals affected by human-elephant conflict. We’ve come a long way over the past decade- African voices have been amplified in the HEC conversations, high-level dialogue is at an all time high, local solutions have been enabled - and Greta is an integral part of this good news story.’
